Martin O’Connor
Martin joined Arbtech as an ecologist and licensed bat worker. From there he has been promoted to senior surveyor and now manages a small team of ecologists–he’d be quick to add, that this is in addition to doing “real work”–dedicated to providing you with the very fastest, most straightforward and cost effective solutions to your ecological and protected species issues.
He lives in Luton, Bedfordshire and from there, covers pretty much the entire south east of England (to be fair, with a little help from about 10 other people at Arbtech.) His big passion is bats. As a Committee Member of Bedfordshire Bat Group and Natural England & Countryside Council for Wales licensed bat worker, he spends about 99% of his waking hours doing something with bats: undertaking surveys, writing reports, taking part in conservation projects and supervising applications for European Protected Species Licenses.

Robert Oates, founder and managing director says:
“Martin was our first in-house ecologist, ‘down south’. When we looked to hire a senior level ecologist into the company, he stood out from the crowd during the selection process as a truly exceptional candidate. (Martin understood that ‘securing work’ plays second fiddle to building a great team of even greater people, that provided a still greater level of speed, efficiency and service to customers.)
As for what he is like on the job, I’ll say this: if you are lucky enough to have one of the U.K.’s most renowned and respected ecological consultants working on your project, you literally don’t have a thing to worry about.
I can’t imagine an Arbtech without Martin, and that’s lucky for me really… because he’s irreplaceable.”
