Anyone in Essex wishing to submit a planning application must compile bat surveys and reports to file along with the rest of their application. This is due to bats being a protected species in Europe, so you may require a licence from Natural England, if you have a confirmed bat roost and wish to disturb it.

First of all we will compile a daytime observation of the bats (if present) in their roost, but a more in-depth follow-up to this may potentially need to be undertaken depending on the size of bat activity and their habitat, depending upon our findings in the walkover survey.

The follow-up surveys take place at night-time and require at least two trained professionals to observe the bats and collate further information.
